SnowCamp

SnowCamp is offered for those who really want to play in the snow – test out their new gear and learn a little bit more about what it will take to finish a SnowTrail event. We have some of the best coaches in Australia poised with their wealth of knowledge and we will have plenty of gear for you to check out on the weekend as well.

Schedule of Events

Day 1: Friday 14th July 2017
Start time: 2pm

2pm – 2:30pm – Introductions with Coach and Race Director
2:30pm – 3:30pm – Gear session – Layering – jackets and more.
3:30pm – 5:30pm – Snow Shoe and Crampon fitting session, using your poles effectively.
6:30pm – Group dinner at the accommodation.

Day 2: Saturday 15th July 2017
Start time: 9am
8am – 8:30am – Breakfast
9am – 9:20am – Athlete muster
9:20am – Bus to Falls Creek
9:30am – Chairlift to Cloud 9
9:30 – 10am – Appropriate Gear fitting (snowshoes or spikes etc)
10am – Cloud 9 to Pretty Valley Huts and return.
1pm – Cloud 9 for lunch – packed lunch provided.
2pm – Cloud 9 to Falls Creek for 27km runners
4pm – 5.30pm – Free time and Village tour for 27km runners
1.30pm – Cloud 9 on to Howmans Gap for Marathoners.
5:30pm – Bus from Falls Creek to Accommodation for 27kmers.
6:30pm – Group dinner at the accommodation.

Day 2: Sunday 16th July 2017
Start time: 9am
8am – 8:30am – Breakfast
9am – Athlete muster
9am – 10am – Nutrition Seminar
10am – 11am – Hypothermia and other cold related conditions
11am – 12am – Question and Answer Session with coaches.
12noon – 1pm – Lunch – provided
1pm – 2:30pm – on snow session.

Camp closes at 2:30pm


ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is available at Falls Creek, Bogong Village, Mt Beauty or Tawonga. Falls Creek is ideal for your camp stay and we highly recommend staying locally.
We have two price structures. One includes all food mentioned and accommodation – the other is provide your own food and accommodation. Accommodation included is booked at the YMCA at Howmans Gap. Transport is provided between Howman’s Gap and Falls Creek.

Mandatory gear for SnowCamp

You will need to have the mandatory race gear for SnowCamp – either hiring it or by owning it prior to camp. This enables us to help you with fitting it, packing it into your pack and general help you may need to be confident come event day. We can help you with contacts with some of the seminar hosts and sponsors for great deals on gear. Feel free to call us about your gear beforehand as we will have items at the camp for you to try. There will be lots of gear available for the SnowCamp.

Snow Camp is limited to 25 runners. SnowCamp Costs are as follows. There are two packages – with or without accommodation and food.
